Dr. Heeg attended medical school at Temple University, his ophthalmology resident at Tulane University, School of Medicine, and completed a two year vitro-retinal fellowship at the University of Kentucky. Since then, he has specialized in the medical and surgical management of vitreo-retinal diseases. While on faculty at Case Western Reserve University Hospital, Dr. Heeg was one of the principal investigators in the AREDS II National Eye Institute study of high dose vitamin therapy for macular degeneration.
Dr. Heeg is certified member of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists and the American Medical Association. He enjoys hiking biking, swimming and also speaks fluent Spanish.
