Dr. Ron P. Gallemore, Founder and Director of the Retina Macula Institute, is an internationally recognized clinician, scientist and surgeon. He received his M.D. degree from the University of California, San Francisco, where he graduated with top honors.

As a member of the elite Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), he also completed his Ph.D. in Neuroscience focusing on the physiology and biophysics of retinal function. He then trained at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA, where he completed his residency while concurrently establishing and directing an internationally recognized retinal research laboratory.

Dr. Heeg attended medical school at Temple University, his ophthalmology resident at Tulane University, School of Medicine, and completed a two year vitro-retinal fellowship at the University of Kentucky. Since then, he has specialized in the medical and surgical management of vitreo-retinal diseases. While on faculty at Case Western Reserve University Hospital, Dr. Heeg was one of the principal investigators in the AREDS II National Eye Institute study of high dose vitamin therapy for macular degeneration.

Dr. Lindsay Grotting, M.D.

Dr. Lindsay Grotting attended medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at Loyola University. She went on to do a fellowship in uveitis at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary where she focused on ocular inflammatory disease. After finishing fellowship, she served as a volunteer ophthalmologist at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet, Kenya for a year, working alongside long term staff and teaching Kenyan ophthalmology residents. She joined the Retina Macula Institute shortly after her return to the States.
